I started this site – and business – because, after 20+ years as an educator and a parent, I’ve learned that there are a lot of students for whom institutionalized formal education doesn’t work very well. These kids might be “gifted” or “twice exceptional” (gifted with a learning disability), or just out-of-the-box thinkers. I’m here to give them, and their parents, the support and help that they need.

I’ve been teaching since 1995: at community colleges and research universities, after-school enrichment programs, public schools and privately. I’ve been a teacher, a department head, a homeschooling parent, an author, a presenter, an editor, and a classroom volunteer. I’ve taught elementary, middle- and high-school students, college and graduate students, and even other teachers.

I love helping students of all ages and skill levels discover that learning is fun and empowering.
